3D Character Rig.
Another personal challenge was taking the expression knowledge from 2D into the 3D xpresso world and creating a 3D Character Rig. I’d say the biggest challenges to this was setting up the low-poly mesh with various pose-morph expressions for smiles etc. but having the final mesh as a volume-builder mesh to combine the upper and lower half of the face. It was really difficult figuring out when the mesh would merge into itself and close up the mouth for instance, so my final mesh had to be super high-poly which honestly wasn’t ideal for animation or rendering. But I think it worked nice enough, great crash-course. Also my first time (a now permanent workflow) ACES multi-pass compositing project
